Publisher's Summary

The reclusive Ian barely participates in life, only doing so when his powers demand that he use them or pay the consequences. It seems that there's not a single person on this planet who doesn't want something from him, but the pain and suffering of others is nearly unbearable at times, leaving him no choice but to act.

That is, until Wink unwittingly walks into his life, completely unaware that she's stepped straight into the dragon's den. Wink is just trying to get home after a long day of work. Her plans for the evening do not include stumbling upon a man with blood on his hands hovering over a dead woman in her hallway.

There are three things that someone in Wink's position should've done in that instance.

  1. Slowly back away from the hot, bearded killer and run the other way.
  2. Call the cops.
  3. Not come back until the scene was safe.

Instead, she stops, takes a picture - drawing the man's attention to her - and then takes off at the speed of a fat, blind, and possibly intoxicated penguin.

Ian tries to let her go, but the moment that she runs, every single one of his predatory instincts surge to the surface and the hunt is on. Ian always catches his prey, this time is no different. What is different is that, for the first time in his life, he is consumed with the need to keep his catch.

Contains mature themes.

Great pairing, but weird ending

Seems like the author got two-thirds through writing and got sick of it and had a deadline, so she threw a bunch of half formed and barely explained random ideas (non dragony) to kind of bring about an ending? Then set up the next book which apparently hasn't happened (or won't). In a way I'm relieved not to have to listen to the male narrator try that Cajun accent again (sounds maybe more like a Russian Scot?) even though otherwise he does a good job, just don't give him accents! First part of the book was great and I enjoyed the different personalities of this pair compared to the previous ones. So much was left unsaid or undeveloped though. Doesn't seem like a whole book, more like every other chapter of a book.

My favourite Mated Pair

This was my first LLV experience and I know from quickly sussing out reviews from her other books and series that they are more popular and aren’t in this genre. This series has had an affect on me !!
There is so much to like about it, I’m truly sad she didn’t continue with it. It has me asking why ? There are many good reviews and some like mine that wanted more and encouraged the story to continue with more support of her idea. I sincerely hope, one day soon, she decides to revisit this series, with a good team behind her, edit the books already released and republish and continue on with a series that could be freaking phenomenal, beating some of the best authors in this genre because there are some real gems exposed and hidden here.
For this book, I do have most of my complaints from the past two reviews however, this was my favourite mated pair, there was something that was so raw about it, it was actually visceral, so much so, I just wanted to be in their heads, as it was so well described. I squealed with glee when the fairy 🧚‍♀️ dragons 🐉 returned (albeit too little too late) and was so happy for Mace. There were lots of nice touches and some fantastic exposure of things not understood even if it was explained after the fact.
It still fell flat in some parts due to gaps in plot and world building and the reasoning behind the who, why and where of the good and the bad and the origin of their war and the fact that some simple explanations were never revealed to the reader. Again, I still want more !! ……… I almost deleted a star because introducing another mated couple and then bailing on a series is bad form for any author, as well as having a terrible team behind her has unfortunately made me not want to consider her again, such a pity because I want to try again, regardless of genre.

** PS I forgot mention specifically my real need for an explanation about how the Dragon Riders came to be and I also think there was or could be a massive story linking all the girls/mates, because the storyline gave a major feeling that they had some true connection beyond what we were told, thought or could imagine. Also, if a revision was done, the couple of big bites taken from HP (invisibility cloaking) and some powers (Twilight), need to be slightly reworded as they were different but need to be differentiated!
So, I’ll say again, this has huge potential to be something truly special!!

<3 Dragons

Ian is a loner, and that's just the way he liked it. While he will happily serve his King and the dragon community, he prefers life on his own. That is until Wink enters his world.

Ian is a different main character to the previous two. He has lived a different life, a harder one. His loyalty to the royal family and dragons is like no other, but he also doesn't let people in. He enjoys his own life and world.

Wink is a strong, determined and not one who is scared to back down from a fight. She is loyal and loving. She is eager to learn and when she realises she is part of the dragon world, she is excited.

This concluding book in the series is much like the others. A great laugh and light read. Jumpy at times but delightful and sweet all at once.

I enjoyed the Audible version which was available with my membership.
