About this listen

Stories full of infectious, hospital-grade humour and loads of heart, from Australia's favourite nurse.

Showering in gumboots. Bomb threats. Tables of turds. Welcome to the life of a nurse.

Nurses are our number-one unsung heroes. They're the ones in the trenches mopping up bodily fluids, holding hands, keeping things ticking - and always with a smile on their face. In Off the Charts, Australia's favourite straight-talking nurse and comedian Georgie Carroll lets you peek behind the curtains to see the inner workings of a hospital. Taking us ward to ward, limb to limb, stitch to stitch, Georgie does not hold back as she shows us the human fragility and fierceness she sees every day at work.

This is a laugh-out-loud funny celebration of the big-hearted, no-bulls--t nurses who, sooner or later, play a huge role in all of our lives.

Enjoyed the book

I enjoyed Georgie’s book. I laughed and related a lot to the content. I listened to it post seeing her live and found the same stories were told on stage and in this book.

Laugh your pants off book

Absolutely loved this book. Written with an excellent sense of humour, I laughed so many times as it was read to me. Nursing is not for the faint hearted as this book is honest enough to show, and is done by big hearted caring people who ideally can maintain their sense of humour to assist with some of the challenges encountered each shift. My children are nurses and I am so proud of them and the important job they are doing. Thanks Georgie Carroll for writing this book. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good laugh.

Nurse humour

Yes, she made me laugh until I cried! Nurses have a special humour all of their own, and Georgie manages to get across the ‘why’ like no one else.

Fabulous antidotes

Thanks Georgie for a great mix of nurses dark humour with that gentle touch of empathy and compassion. As a nurse/midwife I laughed out loud listening to your adventures. We think that it’s just a job but it shapes our lives for the better .. Thank you
