About this listen
Kathryn Shay spent five years riding fire trucks with a large city fire department, eating in their firehouses and interviewing hundreds of America's Bravest. Hear the novels that resulted from her intense relationship with firefighters!
Ian Woodward, one of the firefighter heroes of the 9/11 terrorist attack, lost the use of his legs on that horrific day. When Ian starts teaching at the Hidden Cove Fire Academy, he finds meaning in his life again. But he vows never to accept the love of beautiful Broadway star Lisel Loring-until a deluded fan starts stalking her. Disgraced cop, Rick Ruscio becomes her bodyguard, but it's his community service at a local preschool, where he meets teacher Faith McPherson, that completely turns his life upside down. Both men must deal with their issues and accept the strong women who love them.

To long for audio
This is the 4th Hidden Cove book I’ve listened to and each one is more painful than the last, actually that’s a lie, book 8 was much better than 1, 2 or 3. There is so much filler in these books that listening to them actually sends me to sleep because I just don’t care. It’s sad, they could be amazing and I know Shay dedicated month’s spending time with actual fire departments but just like we don’t see every little facet in a great tv show we don’t need to read or listen to it in a novel. This book narrates for over 10 hours. I probably cared about 4 of them.
I stumbled across book 8 first then went back to get to know the stories of the secondary characters, I just made it through books 1 & 2. It took weeks of rewinding and re-listening to get through it all. But book 3 broke me, by the end I was yelling at my tablet to “JUST GET TO THE POINT” I was so relieved when it was over, and that’s not what one should take away from audiobooks so I’ve decided not to keep going,
I’m putting my ears to better audible use.
