‘Nate is the wielder of a unique and delightful imagination’
– Adrian Tchaikovsky
‘This is a kind of Lonely Planet guide to the various sub-genres of SF and Fantasy, written as though the work of a crass, blundering hack journalist. It's splendidly satirical and hilariously funny, provided you don't mind literary sacred cows being slaughtered with gleeful, merciless abandon.’
Financial Times
‘A love letter to the worldbuilding of fantasy fiction’
Grimdark Magazine

Not what I expected
If you are after an interesting story then this book is not for you. This is basically some sort of fan fiction travel guide form someone heavily inspired by The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Lord of the Rings type stories. There is very little plot, just someone reading a journal giving extremely stereotypical back story to character types they did not create. It is really cringe worthy writing.
I wanted to like this, I kept waiting for some sort of story to develop but so far nothing has and I can't waste my time with this drivel any longer.
The performances are fine and it feels Hitchhikeresque but it lacks all the fun of those stories.
Your experience may vary and I couldn't get more than 2.5 hours into it.
