Publisher's Summary
A forbidden, secret affair proves that all's fair in love and science - from Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author Ali Hazelwood.
Rue Siebert might not have it all, but she has enough: a few friends she can always count on; the financial stability she yearned for as a kid; and a successful career as a biotech engineer at Kline, one of the most promising start-ups in the field of food science. Her world is stable, pleasant, and hard-fought. Until a hostile takeover and its offensively attractive front man threatens to bring it all crumbling down.
Eli Killgore and his business partners want Kline, period. Eli has his own reasons for pushing this deal through - and he's a man who gets what he wants. With one burning exception: Rue. The woman he can't stop thinking about. The woman who's off-limits to him.
Torn between loyalty and an undeniable attraction, Rue and Eli throw caution out the lab and the boardroom windows. Their affair is secret, no-strings-attached, and has a built-in deadline: the day one of their companies will prevail. But the heart is risky business - one that plays for keeps.

Great Narrators, Great Story!
Both narrators were SO GOOD. Their voices and inflections matched the characters personalities so well.
Loved the story, bit more smutty than any of Ali’s other books but nothing wrong with that.
Loved we finally got a book in duel POV!

One of my favourites to date!
Absolutely fantastic work from Ali once again, always the highlight of my year when she comes out with a new book. As an Ex academic I completely understand the underlying motivations in her Stem books.

Jason Clarke is the real hero here
If I had of read this book, it 100% would have been a DNF. Although I liked Eli’s character (and not too much else). It was nothing special. But Jason’s voice and portrayal of Eli was stellar!

Different romance
I enjoyed the style in which the author wrote this romance. Paired with some fabulous narration, I had a good sense of the FMCs and MMCs emotions and often felt their frustrations and trepidations. The slow unpacking of the characters discovery of their feelings was a nice change from the formula of “sex=feelings” I’ve read in a few books lately.

Not written for me but a fantastic story!
I did struggle to get into this book at the start, I don’t think it was the fault of the author I think I am very different from the main character Rue and that made it hard to become emotionally involved in her life. I do think that is book doesn’t subscribe to the normal romance genre and more specifically the typical gender rolls we expect from men and women in the dating scene. I think this book also has an underlying theme of neurodivergence which is also something that is not featured a lot in the romance scene.
Like any Ali Hazlewood books I found my self throughly drawn in by the end and wanting to hear more about their story.
While this book wasn’t written for me (as in I could not relate to Rue) I think there will be others who may not relate to most contemporary romance that will relate closely to Rue. Which is why I consider this an invaluable novel to have in your collection.

Not Ali’s best
I enjoyed the first half of the story. The second half was lacklustre and I started listening at 1.5 -2x speed just to get through it,

Very Yearny - 10/10
A spicier version of Ali’s usual work, but by no means does it sacrifice any of the other best Ali Hazelwood hallmarks.

I hated it. Just wasn’t a good story
Bad story line, and just wasn’t the best book. Could of been a really good story. But was lacking. Lost interest in the first chapter.

exactly what Ali tells you it is ...
Ali warns you in the foreword, it's not the same as the others in the series and unfortunately it misses the mark with me. It's chapters of graphic eroticism with feeling any connection to the characters... and two quite unlikable main characters.
I almost stopped listening because I didn't really care what happened to them until about the quarters through and still then I wasn't anywhere near as invested as in other books.
I also didn't like the male narration very much- felt super sleazy and I cringed with every 'sweatheart'. bringing a male voice in took quite a bit away from the usually 'steminst' vibe.
Ah well... can't like them all!
