About this listen
There's a mantra real writers know but wannabe writers don’t. And the secret phrase is this: "Nobody wants to read your shit." Recognizing this painful truth is the first step in the writer's transformation from amateur to professional.
“When you understand that nobody wants to read your shit, you develop empathy. You acquire the skill that is indispensable to all artists and entrepreneurs - the ability to switch back and forth in your imagination from your own point of view as writer/painter/seller to the point of view of your reader/gallery-goer/customer. You learn to ask yourself with every sentence and every phrase: Is this interesting? Is it fun or challenging or inventive? Am I giving the reader enough? Is she bored? Is she following where I want to lead her?"

Great creative advice. Have to re-listen over and over to get it to sink in.

Brilliant, direct and true
Straight away you can tell Steven knows what he is talking about. His experience seeps through every word and you cannot help but embrace his advice! Unfortunately, I was already finished writing my first book when I read this.. however, I will study it all again for book 2 and see the difference it makes! His humility along with assertiveness about what he knows to be true is so refreshing. Thank you!

A firm dose of what you need to hear
The War of Art and a Turning Pro are excellent books.
This is too, with a more specific meditation on craft punctuated with lots of examples, concepts, and explanation.
Pressfield delivers it himself. This medicine is brutal and effective.

Amazing book for anyone serious about writing.
This is my third listen. Loved War of Art too. Listened to that at least three times. Have recommended this book to a colleague who is an aspiring writer but has some 'resistance'.
