About this listen
The first book in a new series from New York Times best-selling author M A Comley, who has sold over two and a half million books worldwide.
He stands in the shadows. Watching them. DI Sara Ramsey's life is about to change forever. Recently moved to the area and in charge of a new team, she's tasked with finding a serial killer terrorising a rural community. Crimes as heinous as this rarely happen in picturesque rural idylls.
The community is living in fear, desperate for Sara to keep them safe. When the killer changes his MO and abducts a vulnerable resident, Sara realises she is in a race against time to prevent the killer from claiming yet another victim.

Loved this book
This book is well written and holds the readers attention from start to finish. Looking forward to reading the next in the series.

Narrator spoiled a reasonably good book
Not a bad story but the narration was terrible. It was like listening to a 12 year old reading a book. Pauses in the wrong places and too much baby talk.

Overdramatic narration unbelievable story
The story is ok but writing is not strong and needs a strong narrator to pull it off. The narrator is so over dramatic it’s frustrating. Even speeding up playback speed the dramatic pauses are over the top (but at least the characters now talk normally…). Even the lighthearted conversational parts are read as dramatically as the trailer for a blockbuster thriller. Very distracting and highlights the weak writing.

So Boring!
This one was really hard to finish, the writing was almost like a procedural text, no twists, strange unconvincing characters, rushed through the parts that could have been interesting, dragged on in the boring bits, just no heart. Was honestly the worst thing I’ve ever listen to. The narration was whiny, but I think that was due to bad writing. I’ve never not finished a book but would have been the first, except I fell asleep through parts and the book was relatively short. Save your money and your time and read something else.

Couldn’t hold my interest
I persevered with this story but it just couldn’t hold my interest. Too much small talk about what the characters ate instead of getting into the gritty action I’ve come to expect from these type of crime stories.
