Publisher's Summary

NIGHTFALL is the first volume of the NIGHTMARELAND CHRONICLES, an ongoing adventure horror epic following one man's journey to reach his estranged daughter in a world claimed by eternal night.

"Tomorrow died on the last morning of May. There were those who saw it happen, who watched the shadow fall, who felt the chop of the guillotine as the world lost its head. Everyone else witnessed only the aftermath, for the event itself lasted no longer than a moment. They stepped outside from windowless rooms, they climbed up from crowded subways, they pulled back the blinds to let in the sun, and found the nightmare waiting for them."

But the dark is only the beginning

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5/5
The Nightmareland Chronicles by Daniel Barnett Books 1-3 (Audiobook)

This is some of the finest horror I’ve read. It’s criminal this series isn’t talked about more. One morning the sun just goes away. The world is pitched into darkness. Nobody knows why. America is in chaos. This is an apocalyptic tale with a unique setting unlike the usual fare of zombies or nuclear war. This is the tale of John and Maria as they make their way across the hellscape of never ending night. The people they meet along the way. There are no heroes or saviours. Daniel Barnett’s story telling is fantastic. The way he weaves in and out of POV’s. Whether it’s slowly revealing a characters past before the event, or little minor moments that expand on the world as it is now. It keeps you hooked the whole time. But the standout of Nightmareland Chronicles are the depraved villains. The horror, both physical and psychological. The despair you feel seeping into your bones. And I loved every minute of it. Even though this review is for the first 3 books, they are novella sized and make up parts of the larger story. I challenge you to read the first one and try and stop there. You won’t be able to. Then you can spread the gospel and make this series soar to the heights it deserves. The narration by Adam Gold is top tier. His deep voice pairs perfectly with the dark atmosphere. The sound quality is great with just a sparse handful of special effects that elevate it. Note that only the first 3 books are out in audio format with the next 3 to follow in 2025. But I will be continuing on in physical form and will report back when I’m finished. Did I mention I love this series.
