Publisher's Summary

I'm stuck in the friend zone with the hottest guy I've ever known. Oh, and he's my best friend.

Zach pushes me away the moment sparks fly, and sparks have been flying since the day we met. For some aggravating reason, he's intentionally keeping me at a distance.

The way I see it, I have two options. I can leave town and make a fresh start, or I can show Zach how right we are for each other. The problem is, one of those options has the potential to ruin the best friendship I've ever had.

But I'm considering risking it all for love.

Excerpt:

"Nessa." His voice is a strangled growl.

"This shouldn't be a big deal. You said you're not attracted to me," I remind him.

"I didn't say that."

"You said there's nothing to worry about, and that I should make myself comfortable."

"I didn't think you were gonna skinny-dip."

Wow

Really enjoyed this book. Loved that they had the hots for each other from way back. loved that he went heard first in with no looking back. He was taking what was his and had been for a longtime.
Loved the drama and the mix of friends. Great read.

Left me unsatisfied

Firstly I love friends to lovers, it’s my favourite trope. But….. I’ve listened to all the previous books in this series and this one left me flat. It felt so rushed and important story lines, ie Alexa’s grooming, just glossed over. Glad they got their HEA but it could have had so much more

Short friends to lovers story

Never Date Your Best Friend by Jules Barnard is the fourth book in the Never Date Series.

This short story follows Nessa and Zach’s relationship as they move from friends to lovers.

Mira’s been attracted to Zach for sometime, but she doesn’t know that the feeling is mutual.

This story is dual POV’s from Nessa and Zach.

I wish this book came with trigger warnings

SPOILERS - A huge part of this book deals with grooming (CSA). As someone who was the victim of CSA, I wish this book had come with trigger warnings as I would never have purchased it.

Nevertheless, I think the author does a good job at showing the difficulty that a victim can feel in recognising the situation as an abusive one + the fear in hurting the abuser's feelings by leaving.

The narrator comes off a bit of monotone, but given the subject matter, the tone is appropriate.
