The first time I took a man's life, I knew there'd be no going back, no normal existence in the cards for me. Instead of walking away, I climbed a mountain of bodies and created my own destiny by forming The Alliance. And I was fine with that, content enough to carry on.
Until I stepped through those open doors, and into her life.
I should've walked away. Should've gone right back out the door I came through. But I didn't. And now her life is in danger. That's the thing about being a bad man. I'll happily paint the streets red to protect what's mine.
And Payton is mine. Whether she knows it or not.

Great Story
I liked this for a kind of mafia book. I will say the male narrator made it for me! The tone he used in this book was so freaking good. The character was a bit older and the male narrator fitted his age perfectly.

He does a really lame female voice
It’s disappointing that they have a male and female doing the voices, but still have the male do that horrible female voice in his chapters.
Found it hard to get into his parts, especially the spice… terrible mocking sooky voice - compared to the strong actual female voice

Loved
I thought the story was very good. I loved both the narrator's voices. But i found the FMC weak and boring if im honest, and i skipped a lot of her chapters,
other than that, the storyline was great

Great narration.. the characters came to life

incredibly mid
feels like a story a teenage girl would come up with to put herself to sleep. There were some good parts but it just felt really amateur in a dreamy kind of way.
Wish there was more suspense and conflict, everything just worked out so there was not much plot

Plus size happy ending
This is the first audiobook that i can actually fantasise about as a plus size women cause she was. Usually the description is tall, toned and beautiful.. i loved this so much ! Big girls can have happy endings too!
