De syv fortællinger i "Nataljas fortællinger" udgjorde Inger Christensens bidrag til fortællekredsen "Septemberfortællingerne" (Brøndums Forlag, 1988).

"Septemberfortællingerne" var et af de kollektivprojekter, forlæggerparret Hans-Jørgen Brøndum og Iselin Hermann satte i gang. Selve "Septemberfortællingerne" har opnået klassikerstatus. Vagn Lundbye, som sammen med Erik A. Nielsen fik ideen til "Septemberfortællingerne"'s udformning, skrev også rammefortællingen til denne danske kollektivdekameron, hvori Barsebäck eksploderer, og syv mennesker derefter er på flugt fra atompesten, mens de over syv dage (lige så mange som skabelsesberetningens dage) fortæller hinanden historier over syv temaer: skæbnen, mordet, mødet, det at fare vild, spiritus, det at holde sin mund og til sidst om - ingenting.
