About this listen
Is your life real or is the world you live in a simulation? Are the people you call friends and neighbors living beings with inalienable rights, or are they NPCs - Non-Player Characters - whose soulless path through life is predetermined?
Samael Crane, a brilliant scientist, believes NPCs are all around us. And he can prove it.
When a body is discovered in the bay off Essex, Massachusetts, small town pastor and former Marine plagued by doubts, Ezekiel Ford finds himself called in to identify the deceased. His history is unknown. His full name is a mystery. No one knows where he came from. In fact, Ezekiel seems to be the only person in town who ever really noticed him, living on the fringe of reality, and sometimes in the homeless shelter supported by his church.
Ezekiel’s involvement in the case doesn’t go unnoticed by Samael, who has set out to prove - through deadly means - that NPCs exist, that reality is simulated, and that ‘God’ is a coder with a grudge. The two men’s missions become inextricably entwined, leading them down a path through the gray area between good and evil, science and religion, and reality and simulation, barreling toward a truth that will change the world and humankind’s place in it forever.
New York Times and number one Audible.com best-selling author Jeremy Robinson takes listeners on a journey that is not only action-packed, but full of scientific and philosophical intrigue. In his most mind-bending story since Infinite and Alter, Robinson blends genres, belief systems, and bold prose into an unputdownable tale exploring the nature of reality.
In the audiobook edition he is joined by number one Audible.com best-selling narrators, R.C. Bray and Jeffrey Kafer, creating a truly one-of-a-kind listening experience.

Reasonably solid
Great start to the book that had me guessing. Wonderful ideas of mental health issues, serial killers and philosophical questions about our existence.
As the book went on though and tried to keep you guessing it lost some of its magic. Enjoyable though and was through the whole thing in 2 days.
Fantastic performances from the narrators, as expected, though Jeffery's audio was lower than Bray's so that may be slightly annoying to some.

Nice to find something original
Original and interesting, although it took a few chapters to settle into. I was having my doubts at the start of this book.
I expect that the use of the two separate narators was to discern between the two main characters, unfortunately, although both did a good job, it was a fail as to me they sounded too simmillar to achieve what was intended.

Loved the concept!
Firstly, this book is narrated by, not one, but TWO of the best voices in the business! That alone should be a huge selling point. The story itself is enjoyable enough as well. The entire concept is one that's definitely fun to explore and the execution is done really well. The introduction of "polygons" as the adversary was a cool concept too. The start of the book was a little slow for me, but not enough to cause me to switch off thankfully, and the ending wasn't quite how I would have liked it, but I still enjoyed the book overall.

Fabulicious
This book is very well written and the narration is as usual exceptional by RC Bray and Jeremy Kafer, the story keeps you guessing all the way to the end as per usual. I have only one comment on the book, you need to read this book NPC before you read the story of Infinity 2 by the same author, it is not essential but it will allow you to get more into the story of Infinity 2 (which is also an excellent read) from the start of it. Are we Real or are we a Non Player Character, do we live in the Matrix, does God exist or is he a software coder, read this book and try and work it out, if you don't want to do that it's also full of Fast Cars, Kung Fu and Hot Chicks .

A fascinating journey into one of my favourite debates.
loved the ideas in this audiobook. I think the concept would have been very different - especially the ending if Samael was portrayed differently; maybe someone like Carl Sagan.
