About this listen
Audie Award Nominee, Paranormal, 2013
Teenage delinquent Angel Crawford lives with her redneck father in the swamps of southern Louisiana. She's a high school dropout, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and has a police record a mile long. But when she's made into a zombie after a car crash, her addictions disappear, except for her all-consuming need to stay "alive".

A brain away keeps the doctor away.
If your a fan of the iZombie comic or tv show then this is a must read / listen. Was very reminiscent with the blonde undead heroine trying to piece her life back together after waking up to discover she's now a member of the undead brain eating variety.
Angel is a drug addict who can't keep a job, in a dead end relationship and living with her alcoholic father. But after blacking out one night wakes up in the hospital naked with a mysterious letter and package from a stranger who has organised a job for her as a morgue driver & has given her one month to get herself together. Angel isn't aware of her undead status at first but as headless bodies start piling up & she meets a few sketchy people things start falling into place. Angel finds she's actually good at her job & wants more then pills, her loser boyfriend Randy & the strained relationship with her dad, but only if she can keep her head.
I really enjoy this story, has laugh out loud moments. I wish the gory moments were a little bit more gory. The final conflict seemed a little bit to rushed, but did end on a happy conclusion & can't wait to start book 2.
Allison McLemore has a great Southern accent that really helped bring the characters to life.

Terrific fun in a glorious southern accent
We Aussies can't buy the e-book of this series. Thanks publishers. The audiobook, however, more than makes up for that lack. Macklemore's accent is a joy and her performance of all the characters adds to the great fun of a most entertaining series. A strong central character, engaging ensemble, witty lines and gripping adventure. I've really enjoyed the character development over the 3 novels. Bring on the 4th in July '14.

Very entertaining! Loved the narrator too.
A little bit weird regarding zombies as Im not a fan but this was more of a who-dunnit story. I'll be listening to the series for sure!
