Publisher's Summary
From radio to scores of TV and movie soundtracks, Artie Kane's music has touched and inspired millions of people.
In his newly released memoir, Music to My Years: Life and Love Between the Notes, he captures the romantic side as well as the unrelenting perfectionism demanded in the entertainment industry. Mr. Kane conducted scores for over 60 motion pictures, wrote music for over 250 television shows (Wonder Woman, Vegas, The Love Boat, Hotel, Dynasty, Matlock, Question of Guilt, Man Against the Mob) and seven motion pictures, such as Looking for Mr. Goodbar, Eyes of Laura Mars, Night of the Juggler, and Wrong Is Right.
Artie Kane, with candor and acerbic wit, recounts his quest to find love through eight marriages as he pursued his dreams as a pianist. His memoir is infused with provocative and poignant stories about the celebrities he worked with and gives an insider's look at Hollywood culture, films, and TV shows of the last five decades. Music to My Years captures the romantic as well as the rough-hewn and unrelentingly perfectionist sides of the world of professional entertainment. For the love of music, and in a quest of love through eight marriages, Artie reimagines his dreams and, with characteristic candor and acerbic wit, proves that the American landscape thrives as a place for misfits who follow their dreams to success.
Music to My Years is also the story of the ever-changing world of professional entertainment, told by an artist whose talents helped to define the transformative era. This memoir will delight and inform lovers of music, fans of Hollywood culture and films, and devotees of TV shows of the last five decades and resonate with anyone who has pursued a dream or struggled to find true love.

Engrossing and deeply inspiring
I began listening to Artie Kane’s glorious audio book just 3 days ago. Its listening length was over 10 hours. I walked or sat and listened in 2-3 hour sessions often unable to set it aside even though I had other pressing obligations. I was initially drawn to what I would learn about the inner workings of his life as a studio musician, composer and conductor knowing his illustrious career. Reading his bio and learning quickly about his tumultuous personal life with 8 marriages actually caused me to hesitate. As a woman whose own career as a vocal musician has spanned over 50 years I wasn’t so sure I’d want to hear about all those details, especially after the opening chapter. I hung through all that, mostly hoping to learn more about Artie Kane’s musical experiences and creative processes. I’m so glad I remained open and without judgement because those last few chapters really taught me so much more about not only what a great musician he was but also about redemption and triumph as well as humility, grace and gratitude. Though the narrative in his re-telling of his experiences with his wives and girlfriends at times infuriated me, he always came across as brutally honest. I hoped with all my heart there was going to be a breakthrough of growth and wisdom. What a beautiful gift to find such a gem of an ending. That he was finally able to find such happiness and fulfilment with his one and only, Joanne. In the end it’s his extraordinary honesty, dedication to his craft, pursuit of excellence, diligence and work ethic that has been most inspiring and has taught me so much. I’m so grateful to Artie Kane for sharing the story of his life and career and saddened to know he just left us a few days ago. That I listened to the entire book in 3 days is testament to his extraordinary talent and life. Thank you Artie Kane for not being afraid to share all your flaws and in the process show that admitting your mistakes and asking forgiveness made you an even greater human being.
