About this listen
You belong to me and I know it down deep, in muscle and bone, where my wolf lives.
Avery Rhine isn’t an average homicide detective with the Chicago PD. In fact, Avery isn’t an average anything. Sure, as an omega he knows he’s at the bottom of the food chain, but that’s never slowed him down. He’s got a great life, complete with a loving family and a best friend who’d take a bullet for him, so what more could he possibly want or need? Except, maybe, for the world to change. And to find someone to spend more than one night with, but that isn’t high on his list of priorities. He’s never been one to believe in destiny or whatever else the fantasies sell about there being someone special out there meant just for him.
Then a chance encounter at a party changes everything.
Graeme Davenport has no delusions about finding his true mate. The consensus is that if an alpha doesn’t find their other half by the time they’re 30, the chances of it ever happening go from slim to none. He’s not a mere alpha, though; Graeme is a cyne who sits at the pinnacle of lupine hierarchy, so he’s obligated by tradition and duty to choose an omega now, sign a contract, and bond with him. Love is not part of the equation.
When Graeme and Avery meet, their fierce attraction to each other flies in the face of reason and logic. Avery’s intense physical reaction to the alpha is something he’s never experienced before, while Graeme, who has always been the soul of discretion, loses all his inhibitions to desire for the man he wants to possess. They are two very different men trying to navigate expectations, separate reason from innate primal drive, and do it while working together to solve a murder.
It will take everything they are to find a middle ground, and to learn to trust in a fated kind of love.

Couldn’t stop listening
This was my first Mary Calmes novel, and shifter Themes story. It was hot and amazing. Gram and Avery sizzled together and lost themselves in each other whilst staying their own person at the same time. It was well written and I loved it. And I’ve heard Greg Boudreaux before and alway have loved how he can give each character their own personality. He brought them to life as only he can. Grams cultered accent was hot af. Thank to the Author and the narrator.

His Mate!
Excellent story about a Wolf & a Human working as Dectectives trying to solve a gruesome murder. This ebook is well worth buying especially in Audio as the Narrator has a great voice for all of the characters. Mary Calmes stories are all good.

Excellent story and narration
Great characters and plot. I like Alice winters and am Sherwood. This is as good as them. I agree with all other 5/5 ratings. Worth the credit

Excellent in Every Way.
I was hooked from the moment I listened to the sample and certainly wasn’t sorry I bought this story as the rest of it lived up to my expectations formed from that sample. Unlike the previous collection of books I’d listened to every thing about this was good. I had listened to an AJ Sherwood a favourite story in between this and that horrid collection so I can assure you my being enchanted by this one wasn’t simply because of a favourable comparison. Every thing about this book is top notch. The narrator is excellent and did a very good job of the voices. The storyline is well developed and moved at a good pace. Any sex in this book added to the story rather than just being gratuitous. The characters were engaging and well developed. I was utterly charmed. I thoroughly recommend it.

Just Okay.
This book is better read rather than listening to it in audiobook. It's not anything to do with Greg Boudreaux, he did a good job with what he had. It's more the weakness of the writing and dialogue that shows up in audiobook format. The (what tried to be) sophisticated words of Graeme came off cheesy whilst also being stiff and old fashioned. I also hated the words 'snickered' or 'virile' or 'husked' being used too much, definitely in my face while listening. Plus, Mary Calmes always has a perfect character and, hello, Avery is the perfect omega that everyone just loves. Any women are always so beautiful in her books as well. And listening to the description of e v e r y o n e' s clothes at the dinner at Graeme's house, and other minutia, was excruciating. There was a tendency to info dump about the shifter classes and hierarchy as well.
Oh yeah, there's some police work in the middle of the romance.
The sex is definitely hot.
Not bad but not great either. I'd say to think twice about the cost of this in audiobook. It's really not worth it.
