About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
A celebration of the extraordinary life of legendary commentator Murray Walker, with tributes from key figures in Formula 1 and motorsport.
Murray Walker was the voice of Formula 1, matching the thrill of the track with his equally fast-paced and exhilarating commentary, delivering the euphoria of motor racing to millions.
Commentating on his first grand prix for the BBC at Silverstone in 1949, Murray's broadcasting career spanned over 50 years. His natural warmth and infectious enthusiasm won great affection with audiences, whilst his passion and knowledge of motorsport allowed him to hone his instinctive presenting style into a craft.
When Murray passed away in March 2021, tributes came flooding in from every corner of the sporting world. This book, compiled by Murray's great friend and colleague Maurice Hamilton, celebrates the extraordinary life of this truly legendary man. With contributions from drivers and industry figures, and many friends from the world of motorsport and beyond, Incredible! combines fond memories, never-before-told stories and famous Murrayisms with reflections on the highlights of a life lived at full throttle.

Great stories on the much-missed Mudly Talker.
Knowing Murray Walker better than most, Hamilton narrates his own recollections of hanging out with Murray. From Walker's earliest days, his family and armed forces background, then his progress commentating other events on his way to becoming Formula 1's unofficial voice guru, Walker's story is fascinating and brings to mind my own personal recollections of the man. I have photographs of me standing next to Murray behind the pits during the Adelaide F1 Grand Prix, several times (years) I ran into him and asked for a photo together, which in every case he stopped for and smiled or laughed with me so that I'd enjoy the moment, as well as he. Generous, empathetic, thoughtful and mightily interested in all those around him, Murray personified grace and humility, while all the time mixing with the leviathans of the sport and business. This book, IMO, is a worthwhile addition to any Formula 1 fan's library.
