About this listen
One of the very best Christie mysteries read by Hercule Poirot himself, David Suchet.
Just after midnight, a snowdrift stopped the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train was surprisingly full for the time of the year. But by the morning there was one passenger fewer. An American lay dead in his compartment, stabbed a dozen times, his door locked from the inside.
With tension mounting, detective Hercule Poirot comes up with not one, but two solutions to the crime.

“Need it be said – the little grey cells solve once more the seemingly insoluble. Mrs Christie makes an improbable tale very real, and keeps her readers enthralled and guessing to the end.” Times Literary Supplement
“A brilliantly ingenious story.” Dorothy L. Sayers, Daily Herald
“Ingenuity at its height … the idea is utterly novel, the setting a model of realism, and the characters a versatile, attractive crew.” Woman’s Journal
“A piece of classic workmanship .. exquisite and wholly satisfying.” News Chronicle

Excellent narration
David Suchet is a wonderful narrator. He brings Piorot and all the other characters to life. I’m hoping he has narrated more Piorot books.

great as usual
very easy to listen to. at times I found myself getting confused as to whether Poirot or the other French character was speaking... but that's acceptable, given they both have similar accents :-)
An interesting take on whether vigilante revenge and violence is ever justified....

Not what I was expecting
but then I did go into reading this without knowing too much about it at all, as one does when reading a mystery.
While there was a choice of narrators for this audiobook I am very glad I picked David Suchet, some narrators get boring or annoying & I did not have that problem at any point during this story.

A word can trip up.
I listen to many audio books, and some performances please, and others don't ... In the case of the Murder on the Orient Express, a story I have read several times (I enjoy re-reading books I have found entertaining), I find that David Suchet's reading more than acceptable , but I have lately taken to noting incorrect pronunciation, misplaced emphases, bad characterisations ... In this story, one particular word has again reared its poor mispronounced head - "grimace" - even Mr Suchet's said it with the emphasis on 'ace' THEN, further into the story he said the word correctly. I even backed up to listen again ... grimace ... 'Grimus' ... sounded as is 'notice'. Why, why, why can't English be pronounced correctly by the English . I understand that Americans have altered the English language to suit their particular accents; understand but don't accept!

Oh, what a great audiobook!
I love Agatha Christie, and Murder on the Orient Express is one of her best books. David Suchet's reading of it is wonderful, so I greatly enjoyed listening to him doing so.

A Classic Murder portrayed Fantastically
What did you like most about Murder on the Orient Express?
The novel is so wonderfully played out, with the classic reveal at the end, the hidden pasts and deadly secrets. A fantastic listen, extremely entertaining
What did you like best about this story?
The novel of "Murder on the Orient Express" is far superior to the televised version. The original capture Poirot's own love of Justice not the law. It was a fascinating study of what is right and what is lawful.
Have you listened to any of David Suchet’s other performances? How does this one compare?
David Suchet is the embodiment of Poirot and his performance brings this novel to life in a new and revitalising way.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Absolutely! It was fascinating and reverting.
