About this listen

A simple blackmail case goes south when Chanse finds the murdered body of his muscle-boy client in what appears to be a hate crime. But neither Chanse nor the police are convinced it was a hate crime, despite the frenzy being whipped up in the city by a charismatic-but-attention-seeking gay rights activist. The trail leads to a call boy ring, blackmail of wealthy uptown closet cases, and it's not long before Chanse's investigation has put not only his life at risk, but that of everyone he cares about!

Murder in the Rue Dauphine by Greg Herren

I've always liked Greg Herren's books and I was really pleased to find that Murder in the Rue Dauphine is now available as an audio-book. The book is well written and the storyline very engaging. It's been a couple of years since I've read the book so most of it was new again. I was engaged at all times and I was quite sorry when I had to turn my ipod off for a while.
Jerry Wheeler does a good job as narrator although I must admit to not liking Paige's voice. I really liked Chance's voice though.
My one complaint is nothing to do with the book but all to do with it's production. I think that the quality of the sound is not good - it sounds as if the narrator was working in a bathroom or an equally echo-y place. I did get used to it but every time that I turned my ipod back on the annoyance was there again. That being said I will be buying the next book in this format when it is released.
