Research
If you're going to write a book that includes laws of another country, it pays to research them. Australia has had no fault divorce since 1975. Hence the premise that the husband received a larger split because of infidelity on the wife's part is incorrect. May seem like a small thing but annoying nevertheless.

Not as Crazy as Real Life
Coo a nice conglomerate of Rex Hunt and Lang Hancock in there. A minor bump in the road wrt Aussie divorce laws but then that’s excusable because this storyline is rational and tame compared to the actual reality of Australian celebrity philanderers and Western Australian mining magnate billionaire family stouches over wills.
Looking forward to the next instalment.

Intriguing mystery and setting, but some irritating issues
Like the first book in this series, I really enjoyed the complex plot and interesting characters. But feel this book was less carefully edited/written than the first with things like repetitive elements, and iffy police ethics/methods pulling me out of the story sometimes. Descriptions and actions towards female characters had a whiff of sexism/unconcious bias too... if just one or two things i could have ignored it, but by the end I kept coming across the same problems and it distracted from my enjoyment of the story. I look forward to reading the next book in the series though and hope it will be different. Also warning to Australian listeners... there are lots of Australian characters in this one, and while the narrator doesn't do a terrible job with the accent, I still found it grating and overly broad.
