About this listen
It was the most fashionable place to stay in London, until murder made a reservation. Solve the puzzle in this new mystery from USA Today bestselling author of the Glass and Steele series.
December 1899. After the death of her beloved grandmother, Cleopatra Fox moves into the luxury hotel owned by her estranged uncle in the hopes of putting hardship and loneliness behind her. But the poisoning of a guest throws her new life, and the hotel, into chaos.
Cleo quickly realizes no one can be trusted, not Scotland Yard and especially not the hotel’s charming assistant manager. With the New Year’s Eve ball approaching fast and the hotel’s reputation hanging by a thread, Cleo must find the killer before the ball, and the hotel itself, are ruined. But catching a murderer proves just as difficult as navigating the hotel’s hierarchy and the peculiarities of her family.
Can Cleo find the killer before the new century begins? Or will someone get away with murder?

loved it.
I loved the book. Was sad to finish it. Can't wait for the next one. It is little bit similar to The Glass and Steele books which I love too, but also different to them as well. Lots of interesting characters. I love how all characters have their own voice and Marian Hussey performance is great too, adding to the character's sound.

Thoroughly Engaging
CJ Archer is becoming one of my favourite authors. The story has all the elements to keep the pages turning, a bit of mystery, intrigue and just the right amount of humour thrown in for good measure. Marian Hussey's performance is excellent as usual.

My new favourite author
I first started listening to the glass library series which made me want more! To realise that there was a whole back story to it.. after listening the whole glass and Steele series I signed up for the exclusive to the prequel! Although this series has a similarity to the others it still leaves me guessing what’s going to happen! As much as I love it for the mystery side of things I find myself really invested in the love story!
I bow down to Marian Hussey as her characters come alive when she reads and I don’t think anyone else could do it justice!

Interesting
A great start to a cosy mystery series. Nice characters with a few flaws to make them interesting. Great narration.
