About this listen

Imagine nine women meeting. Tea and cake are on the coffee table. They’ve come together to share their love of books. They are friends. They trust each other. It’s a happy gathering. What could be more harmless? Scratch the surface and look closer.

One is lonely, one is desperate and one of them is a killer.

When the body of a woman is discovered on a Cambridge common, DCI Barrett and DI Palmer are called to investigate. But the motive behind the crime isn’t clear...and it all leads back to a book club.

As the lies, volatile friendships and tension among the group rise to the surface, DCI Barrett and DI Palmer must work out the motive and track down a cold-blooded killer. But just when they think they are on the right track, a twist in the case throws them off course....

Betsy Reavley is the best-selling author of multiple thrillers including The Optician's Wife, The Quiet Ones and Frailty. This title is an unmissable new whodunnit which will appeal to fans of authors like Cara Hunter, Rachel Abbott, Faith Martin and LJ Ross.

Not bad. Not great.

Loads of mistakes. Saying man instead woman, husband’s names changing, one of the members background completely changed through the story. Makes the book less enjoyable when the editing was so off.
But the story itself was pretty good, a whodunit style.
I’ve never heard such unflattering descriptions of characters in my life! Couldn’t help but laugh.
I’m glad I didn’t pay for this but I mostly enjoyed it.

Easy Listen

Quick and easy listen, it was predictable but enjoyable.

Narrator is fantastic, great range - love how she gave each character a distinguishable accent.

A very good book

The author should be congratulated on a very good book, full of intrigue and twists & turns, it had me guessing different characters being the murderer all the way through.
I hope to here more stories narrated by the lady who did this one as her characterisation was brilliant and she really gave the story life.
An all round brilliant story.

Very ordinary

This book had quite unrealistic characters. The narration was awful for me. Too slow and I felt disjointed.

The story had potential, however it wasn't exactly well put together.

If this was something I'd paid for I'd be asking for a refund. I did finish it, only just.
