Long live Mrs P
A delightful listen. Of all the Simon Brett series, Mrs Pargeter is my favourite. She is now happily living in “Lionel’s Den”, a large house in Essex but a body is found under the patio. The police are reluctantly called but Mrs P and her old friends do a much better job. Nice to meet again Truffler Mason, Gary the driver and Hedgeclipper Harrison of Green’s Hotel as well as two new ones, Tina the Transformer and Fixin’ Nixon. There’s a subplot involving Kirsty, (Mrs P’s gardener and protege) and her missing father, a Reggae musician. All’s well in the end and the villains are exposed and arrested or discredited and the missing father is found. Great party for Kirsty at the end. Mrs Pargeter continues to eat hearty, rich delicious meals, drink rather a lot of expensive champagne and quaff plenty of excellent red wine. Long May she continue to do so.
