Publisher's Summary

Mrs. D is an alcoholic, albeit a very nice, respectable, articulate, and groomed alcoholic.

This is an honest, upfront, relatable account of one suburban housewife's journey from miserable wine-soaked boozer to self-respecting sober lady.

This audiobook is an inspirational tale of self-transformation, addiction, and domesticity. This audiobook lays out the entirely unexpected solo journey Mrs. D took in the first year of her sobriety and reveals the incredible online support that came through on her confessional blog, a blog intended to be a private online diary but turned into something else quite remarkable.

What a brilliant book!

My goodness I enjoyed this books. As a person with Aphantasia, I can find it hard to enjoy a lot of books. This book had me hooked from the start. The fact I can visualise didn’t matter with this book.

My only criticism is that she sounds a bit like Julia Gillard…

A marvellous book!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I learned so much from it. It is a book for anyone who is thinking about giving up alcohol, or for anyone who has already given up alcohol. It made me realise that sobriety is hard work, & is not all joy but that it is better than boozing, ultimately. I can relate to all of the raw feelings, after giving up drinking. I recommend this book as an awesome, enlightening listen!

Honest and well written

As someone who gave up drinking 4 years ago, I was interested to see a different person's perspective on sobriety. And whilst my story is vastly different to Mrs D's, many truths ring true.
Beautifully written, a story of perseverance and the unexpected joys that came about because of sharing her truth.

Loved it

Loved the book!!!

The only thing that got me was the Australian accent with the kiwi colloquialisms .. think it would have been an awesome self narration … but I’m sure only a kiwi would notice that!

Thanks for sharing your story Mrs D and keep up the great work! :)

A light drink.

I found the book somewhat relatable with all the big feels that come with quitting alcohol, but the whole time I was waiting for the lapse that never came. I don’t know anybody that has managed to quit booze first time up. Including myself, I’ve tried several times. I would have been able to relate more had the author experienced the struggle which comes with slipping up and starting over again and again.
