This was so hard to finish..... what is the point of this book?

The blurb sounded amazing and I was really excited to listen to this I went in with an open mind.
It seems to have a lot of concepts of "creepy and dark" and although it's quite descriptive, nothing seems to come of it? It was incredibly slow and was quite honestly putting me to sleep.
To be quite frank, I'm not even sure what I just listened to... if you asked me what this book was about, I wouldn't be able to tell you, let alone remember that I listened to it. :(
