About this listen
Things that stress out this widowed single mom: high fructose corn syrup, intrusive thoughts about my son getting swept up by a tornado, and the sexiest hockey player to grace this planet.
Oh, and the fact that I’m also said hockey player’s physical therapist. But we’ll lock that tidbit away in the same nightstand as my battery-operated toys.
Moving my son and me across the country to live with my three best friends and our seven children into one dilapidated Boston brownstone should have been the biggest risk I’ve ever taken–not figuring out how to protect my heart, career, and panties while trying to navigate my secret double life.
But Rowan ‘Slick’ Parker is nothing if not hell-bent on taking slapshots at my comfort zone. The more I try to keep things professional, the more he works to break the rules with his charming grin, piercing gaze, and world-class rear end.
Not to mention, he adores my son.
So, I finally give in.
Don’t worry, though, it’s all temporary–a way for us to get each other out of our systems.
But little do I know, ‘temporary’ has a way of leaving lasting impressions on the heart.

"Mother Pucker" by Swati Mh is a contemporary romance novel that blends humor, family
dynamics, and the challenges of navigating love after loss. The story centers around a
widowed single mom who faces stressors ranging from high fructose corn syrup to her
son's safety, all while dealing with her attraction to a charismatic hockey player, Rowan
'Slick' Parker, whom she's also treating as a physical therapist.
The narrative has a mix of humor and heart as Shay relocates with her son to live with her
three best friends and their children in a Boston brownstone. The precarious balancing act
between her personal life, career, and the unexpected spark with Rowan sets the stage for a
potentially engaging and entertaining read.
Shay has been leading a half-life since her husband’s passing, wrapping her loved ones in
protective layers due to the fear of losing them. Her friends affectionaltey refer to her as a
‘bag of nevers” reflecting her apprehension towards various aspects of life.
Shay becomes Rowan’s physical therapist, where she is reluctant to mix business with
pleasure. However, Rowan is determined to break through her fears and seduce the
incredible woman he sees behind the protective facade. Their connection leads to Shay to
realise she hasn’t truly been living, and Rowan discovers there’s more to life than hockey.
Roway has a caring nature, extending to Shay and her son Kai.
The novel is a lighthearted yet emotionally resonant story, exploring the complexities of
love, grief, and the unpredictability of romance. The promise of a temporary arrangement
that may leave lasting impressions adds an intriguing layer to the plot, leaving readers
curious about the characters' journey and the development of their relationship.
This forms part of the MomCom series that contains 4 stories written by different authors.

(AUDIO)
I really loved this audiobook. Bluenose has done it again! I've fallen in love with this production company's style of layered audio when they do their duets - it's just - chefs kiss -
Shay hasn't really been living since her husband’s passing, letting her fear of something happening to the ones she love override all logic to wrap everyone in bubble wrap, especially her son, Kai. Her friends affectionately refer to her as a ‘bag of nevers'.
Our MMC, Rowan, is a lovable hockey player who ends up teaching Shay that her life doesn't have to be so full of worries. Their chemistry is instant and undeniable, and it slowly becomes an amazing love story where the character growth of all three MCs is immense and beautiful.
Other things I loved:
- the swear 'jar' with a fee of $1000
- Junior and her children
- grief rep
- the strong female representation and the amazing friendships

Lacking the humour of the previous stories
This book was well narrated but lacking the humour that made the previous titles in this story fun.
