About this listen
An insatiable need for sex and love. Periods of overeating or starving. A pattern of unstable and painful relationships.
Does this sound painfully familiar?
Trauma counselor Kelly McDaniel has seen these traits over and over in clients who feel trapped in cycles of harmful behaviors - and are unable to stop.
Many of us find ourselves stuck in unhealthy habits simply because we don't see a better way. With Mother Hunger, McDaniel helps women break the cycle of destructive behavior by taking a fresh look at childhood trauma and its lasting impact. In doing so, she destigmatizes the shame that comes with being under-mothered and misdiagnosed. McDaniel offers a healing path with powerful tools that include therapeutic interventions and lifestyle changes in service to healthy relationships.
The constant search for mother love can be a lifelong emotional burden, but healing begins with knowing and naming what we are missing. McDaniel is the first clinician to identify Mother Hunger, which demystifies the search for love and provides the compass that each woman needs to end the struggle with achy, lonely emptiness, and come home to herself.

Extremely insightful
Eye opening. Triggering but like all healing you have to rip the bandaid off. Can’t seem to find the PDF attachment?

Enlightening and empowering
This book is so enlightening and it provided the missing pieces to my puzzle. It explained so much of my story , where I had spent many decades blaming myself .
It wasn’t my fault after all.
While at times confronting, I have acquired so much peace after reading this book.
Thank you for writing it.

Signs and symptoms of mother abuse
This book finally shed some light on my behavioral symptoms that I didn’t understand because my unconscious mind had protected me from the abuse I endured. I highly recommend this to any woman irrespective of their early childhood experiences

Brilliant piece of writing!! Highly highly recommend for anyone who has gaps in their childhood and for those who mother.
As an adopted person, Attachment Specialist and Somatic Psychotherapist, this book brought it all together for me. It is the missing piece for so many of us who grew up without the secure attachment we were wired for.
Kelly brings a difficult, but heartfelt, examination of attachment, trauma and parenting together in a permeating, normalizing and healing way. I couldn’t put it down.

Blessings Love and Light ✨
This book opened the gate to the very place I did not realise I needed healing the most.
Now I understand where my healing was taking me.
It it very important to take Kelly's advice and take breaks and be kind and gentle with yourself throughout this book.
