Publisher's Summary
Nothing is ever what it seems-including me.
The Midwest Pack has three goals: Protect the pack. Protect the pack. And yeah, protect the pack.
I have my own goal: Live a simple life and hope no one ever discovers that the quiet young woman next door turns into a wolf.
All my efforts go up in flames when a vampire attack draws the attention of the Midwest Pack. The next thing I know, I'm staring down Ethan, a handsome and alluring alpha, as he demands to know what I am. Not who. What. The pack was warned that I'm not just a werewolf but a weapon-one that could be used against them.
A weapon? Me? I'd love to dismiss it as a case of mistaken identity, but I've become the supernaturals' Most Wanted overnight. The vampires have put a bounty on my head. A necromancer attempts to kill me in a room full of people. And a mysterious witch is watching me far too closely for comfort.
The only thing standing between me and certain death is the pack, but we're definitely not on the same page. I want to lie low, go back to my typical life, and live to fight another day, while their MO is "seek, confront, and destroy."
And depending on the answers we find, the enemy they destroy...might be me.

confusing
It could have been an amazing book but its full of boring dialogue not enough action in it.
Skylar is annoying like hell. I just cant get into the story. A let down ending i meant she supposed to host a powerful spirit shade in her but she can barely protect herself. The only thing that made me give this a four star is the narrator Jorjeana Marie she amazing.

Same, same but different
At first it feels very similar to other werewolf/vampire series I have listened to and very much enjoyed but didn’t feel the allure of such a similar story but after the first couple of chapters the story broadens out to be different enough and I slowly started to connect with the main character who at first I found quite unappealing. I ended up really enjoying this book to the point I am about to purchase the new book in the series. As far as the narrator, I did find a bit irritating as she sounds like she has a blocked nose but I guess it may just be her accent and I did get used to it but wish the following books had someone else.

Great start to a series
3.5⭐️
“Moon Tortured” is book one in McKenzie Hunter’s Sky Brooks series. This series is in Skylar’s POV and follows her life into the world of the supernatural.
Being a werewolf has always been the one thing that Skylar despises about herself. Each month when the moon calls for her wolf she would sedate and lock herself in a cage. When a bunch of Vampires attack her home and is saved by the local Werewolf pack, learning to accept her wolf is going to be one of the many things she is going to have to do. Demetrius the leader of the Seethe wants Skylar and it’s now the Midwest Pack’s responsibility to keep her safe and out of the hands of the Vampires, or life as they know it will be total chaos.
This is the first time I have read something by this author. I can say I am really enjoying her writing.
This book was well paced with lots of action, suspense, angst, excitement and surprises. I read this book in one sitting it was that enjoyable. With so many great characters that I can’t wait to see grow and flourish in this series. I did find Skylar to be immature, eradicate and annoying at times. Now I understand she has been thrown into a world she knows nothing about or want anything to do with. But seriously her life is at risk, you’d think after the first two attempts on her life she would stop acting so stubborn and listen to the people trying to keep her alive and safe. Yes they may be werewolves with tempers and uncertainty in regards to how the future is going to look, but they are the experts in regards to the supernatural world.
Ethan, wow a typical alpha male, banging on chest and expecting the female to listen. Sorry bud but you are going to have to try harder. He is going to be fun to read when I go to his POV that have been written.
Josh, I’m really unsure of what I think of him, I’m on the fence about him.
Stephen, is a real sweetheart and is the friend that Skylar needed.

Great Series
I have listened to this whole sereis, there is one book to go in this 7 book series. It is a great fun, action packed series. This series is definitely a roller coaster ride. The narrator may seem to read a little slow at first but you soon get used to her. As the series progresses she does a good job with the narration. She also does a great job with the other voices.
Skylar is a young girl who grew up not knowing what she was. At 16 she discovered she was a wolf, she was scared by that part of herself and once a month on the full moon kept her wofl in a cage. She came to be afraid and hate that part of herself. Years latter she is attacked and her mother murdered she is saved and taken in by the Midwest Pack. Now she is thrown into a violent world she doesn’t understand or want anything to do with. Skylar has to survive and come to terms with who and what she is. There is more to Skylar than being a Wolf Shifter, much much more. This story is about her survival and journey to discover who and what she really is. This is a seven book series, remember this is the first book. Skylars growth thoughout this series is realistic. I can imagine myself bumbling through this dangerous world. Would I become a kickarse fighter in a few months. No way. Would I accept this Scary Violent new world without question. No way!
I didn’t see Sky as wimpy. I saw her as young woman shoved unexpectedly into a world she didn’t understand. Also growing up hating and not understanding her wolf side made it more scary to her. She was a believable character who as each book progresses becomes more confident and comfortable in her world. She gaines skills and becomes a kickarse Heroine any Author would be proud of. Half the fun is how she bumbles her way along. A good series has character growth and flawed characters. In real life we all have flaws and the best books have flawed characters. If they were perfect there would be no need for growth and it would be a very boring story. This series is not boring. It is exciting and each book is better than the last. There is action adventure and latter in the series a little romance. There are so many secrets to uncover and adventures to be had.
I also love Ethan and his growth throughout these books, he is a arse at times but you grow to love and understand him. I have read the first six books in this series and can’t wait for the final seventh book. Do yourself a favour and buy this audiobook book. If you have kindle unlimited you have nothing to loose it’s $3 for the audiobook. There is so much to this series ! Listen to the first two books and you will definitely be hooked like I was.

Great start
Speed up the narration to 1.25 and it sounds normal.
Good story, improving as it continues (she was so stupid at the start). I am looking forward to reading the same book from Ethan’s POV

use a nasal spray.
I have read other books that was performed by this narrator. This particular book she must have had a cold or allergys. You could tell she was struggling. The show should not always go on. Got my money back

Not to my liking
I tried for two hours to like this book. But with the narrator and the story I just couldn't get in to it.

Too joyless for me.
Maybe the story wouldn't have been too bad if the marathon wasn't so utterly joyless? One of those first personstories that's just a constant expression of surprised dismay. I would have persevered had the descriptions of the main guy not included words like male, commanding, intimidating, powerful, control etc etc etc. Not my cup of tea, so I moved on. If that's your cup of tea, then cool, & oh boy is this the story for you.
