About this listen
"Welcome to the moon!"
Neal Gordon screwed up his assignment on Mars and they reassigned him to Antarctica. Now he's being reassigned some place even worse: Luna City. A crime ridden hellhole with a super-rich ruling class, he almost immediately finds himself targeted by bounty hunters and cyborg terrorists. Thankfully, Neal has an unusual set of partners in robot dog, Barksley, and the snarky but badass Lucy Westenra. Yes, make all the vampire jokes you want.
It's tough being a corporate cop on humanity's foremost colony and before this adventure is over, he's going to have to deal with deranged influencers, mysterious female secret agents, and a 1970s themed flying car called the Purple Rain. Can he survive to get reassigned? Who knows.
MOON COPS ON THE MOON is set in the Futurepunk setting of Agent G, the Cyber Dragons Trilogy, and Space Academy novels but functions as a standalone series. It is a humorous action-filled romp that fans of The Expanse, Robocop, Demolition Man, and Blade Runner will enjoy.

The best new book I've read this year!
This was a fantastic new cyberpunk comedy from C.T Phipps! I should start by saying that although it's set in the same universe as several of his other series' (such as Space Academy Dropouts, Cyber Dragons, and Agent G), none are required reading for this. There are some nods, but nothing a new reader needs to understand to thoroughly enjoy the story.
Anyway, this follows Neal Gordon as he's assigned to the colony of the moon, to be a corporate police officer. Like all good cyberpunk stories, he quickly discovers the huge gap between the ultra rich and the desperately poor citizens who live on the moon.
The characters are hilarious and really out there, and their general insanity made me laugh. Of particular note was Barksley, the robotic, sentient talking corgi. He was an absolute delight and always made me smile.
I'm not sure how much of the plot to talk about without spoiling things, so I'll just say the book starts with an assassination attempt on Neal as he touches down on the moon and things only escalate from there. For a comedy book, this story also has it's darker sides, which I didn't see coming, but actually managed to mix well with the genuinely funny insanity of the setting.
Between the crazy characters, the unexpected plot twists and the fact that everyone just treats it as so mundane to Neal who is both a little crazy himself, as well as the resident straight man, this story was really entertaining.
If you try only one new story this year, I'd strongly recommend this one, I had a lot of fun reading it.
The narration took a bit to get used to, but I loved it, before I hit half way.
