Publisher's Summary

A young millionaire, Eadric Montague, is forced to seek a young woman to act as his lover when his grandfather informs him that he has a terminal disease and therefore, only has six months to live. Eadric has no intentions of getting married but his grandfather's wish is to see him in a committed relationship.

His new executive secretary, Lyn White, catches his eye as the perfect woman for the facade and he proposes it to her. Believing him to be either crazy or a pervert, Lyn ignores him but eventually gives in after a painful breakup from her two-year relationship.

Eadric introduces her to his grandfather who, charmed by her point-blank honesty and intelligence, quickly accepts her as a future daughter-in-law. Overtime, as Eadric and Lyn find themselves attending social functions together, Eadric notices something disturbing. Lyn seems to have a strong prejudice towards wealthy families that she hides under a sarcastic front often mistaken as refreshing honesty.

Worried he had chosen the wrong fake lover to bring into his family, he decides to end the relationship after a conversation with his best friend, Callum Reid. Before he can do so, he comes to the shocking realisation that he has somehow developed feelings for her. The fact that his entire family has warmed up to her doesn't help.

Callum insists on meeting her in order to help Eadric come to a decision. This meeting doesn't sit well with Eadric who watches as Lyn reacts differently around Callum who insists that Lyn is familiar. Callum advises Eadric to give the relationship more time to better understand Lyn and uncover the reason behind her prejudice. Suspicious that Callum may be smitten with Lyn, Eadric reluctantly agrees determined to keep an eye on both of them.

Lyn finds herself falling for Eadric against her better judgement. Her growing attachment to his family frightens her. Meeting Callum threatens to unravel the secret she's held on to for a very long time. When Eadric’s grandfather comes dangerously close to figuring out her secret, Lyn ends her fake relationship with Eadric.

Unwilling to accept Lyn's decision, Eadric reacts badly further chasing Lyn away however an important business deal forces them to work more closely than ever.

A passionate kiss and want on desires scare Lyn who makes another drastic decision. His pride hurt when she hands in her resignation and goes into hiding, Eadric confronts Callum who appears to know something. Frustrated that Callum refuses to tell him what he knows, Eadric is further stupefied when he discovers that his grandfather's supposed terminal illness was a ploy to get him married.

An article from a paparazzi exposes Lyn's hiding place but Eadric is torn on whether he should go after her or not.

Lyn struggles to adapt to life without Eadric and the warmth of his family. Lyn’s mother falls ill and this forced her to forget her troubles and look after her mother.

Eadric's grandfather finally steps in, tired of waiting for his grandson to come to a conclusion. He has unraveled Lyn's secret to Eadric.
