About this listen
Sometimes the worst wounds can’t be seen.
Lucas Everett knows that firsthand. It's why he and his former Navy SEAL brothers created the Resting Warrior Ranch.
They aren’t doctors, but they can offer the healing freedom of their Montana range. They specialize in training service and emotional support animals to help soothe even the worst emotional scars.
Usually, soldiers show up at their door. But this time, it's Evelyn Taylor—a soldier in a very different kind of war.
She's as skittish as one of the horses Lucas gentles. But he’s learned how to be patient with animals, and he’s more than happy to be patient with this quiet beauty too.
When Evelyn’s past nightmares show up in Montana, she thinks she has to run again, but Lucas isn’t going to let that happen. He’s protected his country against the worst types of threats, and he’ll protect her too.
She’s met the rancher, but now she’s about to meet the SEAL.

woop woop a good plot
I've listened to Janie Crouch but not Josie Jade in the past.
This storyline had more angst and depth that added to the book and I'm wondering if that is Josie Jade's part.
I've read reviews and some were pretty unforgiving. I'm not sure if I'm listening to what they had ( or read).
I believe this story had a modest background to give you the Seal trope...which one must enjoy or one wouldn't buy it.
the H had some small background info to give me insight into his reasoning while the h's plight was gripping and I was wondering how the authors were going to write themselves out of a suspenseful corner.
It fell into place thanks to trust.
The animals were a wonderful addition and I thought Aspen was going to be the saving grace but once again...trust! The pace was good and there was the introduction of future characters. I could see where the h would fit into future plotlines.
The daily working routines were dropped in here and there and I got the gist of how the ranch maintained itself.
However, there were a few loose ends that I wanted to know, especially the how in one particular angsty part but it wasn't mentioned and I could live with that.
The other loose end was the way the baddie got the drop on the Seals...which I find, from listening to Janie Crouch's stories, is one of her tropes.
However, they were smart enough to figure out the subterfuge.
Looking forward to more.
Love Emma Wilder, her narration is always brilliant.
First time listening to Connor Brown and I enjoyed his tone.... enjoyed this book
