يُعالج الروائي الروماني قسطنطين جيورجيو في روايته "شحاذو المعجزات" قضية العنصرية التي عانى منها السود في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية وأفريقيا منتصف الخمسينات وأوائل الستينات، وكذلك الاستعمار الأوروبي الذي كان يتلكأ في الخروج من أفريقيا بعد ويلات الحرب.

حيث تبدأ الرواية بحادثة مروعة في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية سببها الرئيسي كان العنصرية،وضحيتها رجل كان كل جرمه أنه رجل أسود، لينتقل بعد ذلك إلى قبائل آكلي لحوم البشر والتبشيريين والمؤامرات التي تُحاك في الظلام!

حين تنتهي من هذه الرواية لن تفكر في شيء غير تحسس كل الأماكن الموجعة فيك، تحسس ما كان مخدرًا واستيقظ فجأة ليذكرك بما سلب منك بإسم التقدم والرقي والحداثة.. إنها رواية تشييع الإنسان إلى مثواه الأخير بعد أن تغلقت في وجهه كل أبواب الخلاص وصار نهبا لرياح الإيديولوجيا والتصنيفات القاتلة.
