About this listen

Rachel Rodgers, personal finance expert and author of the best-selling We Should All Be Millionaires, delivers yet again in her three-part Audible Originals series. In Million Dollar Habits, Rodgers puts forward the habits you would do well to adopt in order to generate wealth. And before she gets to those habits, she first encourages you to raise your financial goals. Rodgers advocates aiming for generational wealth—the kind of wealth that changes not just your life but your children’s lives and their childrens’ lives as well. First, she expands your view of what to aim for. Then she takes you through the habits that will see you through to that higher goal.

Rachel Rodgers’ Million Dollar Habits will get you in shape to make opportunities to wealth and seize all that come your way.

To give you a taste of Rodgers’ program to wealth, here are her Daily 7—the seven steps that you should do each day to reach your wealth goals:

  • Delegate one task on your to-do list to someone else.
  • Move your body.
  • Connect with your squad.
  • Do one money-generating activity.
  • Think million-dollar thoughts.
  • Look at your money.
  • Set or enforce a boundary.

Intrigued? Million Dollar Habits is the ultimate guide to getting in shape mentally, physically, and financially to create generational wealth, regardless of your current financial status. So do yourself a favor and listen in. And then head back to her Plan Your Year Like a Millionaire and Six-Figure Side Hustle. Along with Million Dollar Habits, this is the trifecta that will see your through. What’s more, Rodgers’ empowering series provides a road map to financial prosperity for all who want to embrace the challenge, particularly those from communities historically excluded from wealth.

Her secret to success is selfishness

Thought out this entire book the way she speaks about how to earn more money is centred around selfishness. So many of the things she labels as ‘broke ass decisions’ are actually have responsibilities. Her advice is to ‘stop looking after your family’, rather then cooking meals for your family you should let them do it themselves and instead peruse wealth.

On top of this the book deals mostly with wellbeing rather than how to use money wisely. I of course have no problem with looking after your mental and physical health but that wasn’t the book I was expecting to read.

Overall this book was a complete waste of time and I do not recommend it!

So nice, I’m listening twice!

I love how down to earth the author is. Her advice is great for progressive people who want to make a world a better place and also want to grow their wealth—all WITHOUT the guilt or shame many of us are afflicted with. Her strategies are sustainable and actionable, so if you feel overwhelmed by all the changes you need to make in order to grow, give this book a listen to give you the kickstart you need.

It even gave me the confidence to chase a not overly late $12,000 invoice. And thankfully I did! My client actually thought he’d already paid it and made the transfer that afternoon. So checking on my money early saved a lot of unnecessary awkwardness and potential resentment. What a game changer!

Changing your perspective

1. Showed me that to be a millionaire you need to look at your money. I was scared at looking at my money, now I’m not.
2. Moving your body - understanding that moving your body is not to lose weight, it’s to keep you healthy and enjoying yourself. This helped me to go and run on the oval because I knew it was good for me. I wasn’t beating anyone in a future race. But I knew by running even if it was one lap half jogging half walking I was practicing self care and self love. Thank you.

Simplistic and basically an infomercial for author

This is not the book for anyone who has even a low level of financial literacy. The author talks about herself, her family and her experience as a black woman in business. There is no actual substance to this book other than "go girl" and "you got this" chatter.
Advice such as "delegate household tasks to your spouse" is not particularly helpful. Also, "find people who have the life you want, go hang out with them...". Riiiiiiight.... not for me,

Pointless and disappointing diatribe by the author about the author to promote an online community founded by the author.
