Publisher's Summary
From Charlaine Harris, the best-selling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and the world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a new, darker world - populated by more strangers than friends. But then, that's how the locals prefer it.
Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It's a pretty standard dried-up western town. There's a pawnshop (someone lives in the basement and is seen only at night). There's a diner (people who are just passing through tend not to linger). And there's new resident Manfred Bernardo, who thinks he's found the perfect place to work in private (and who has secrets of his own). Stop at the one traffic light in town, and everything looks normal. Stay awhile, and learn the truth....

A wonderful continuation in this universe.
I love how characters from other books get to continue their stories. Being a fan of this universe I thoroughly enjoyed listening to and reading this book. I recommend reading all three books in this trilogy before writing reviews as the complete story makes for a much better ending.

Intrigue at Midnight
in true Charliane Harris style Midnight has its own unique collection of unusual characters.
Woven together to bring us a story of intrigue, secrets & revelations.
I found it alittle slower to get going unlike some of the authors books, but the narrater held the story together beautifully & you just knew that midnight wasnt going to stay quiet..... or sleepy for long. Im about to purchace the 2nd Midnight audio book.

Finished listening, but expected more.
I really liked Charlaine Harris's The Southern Vampire Mysteries, so I gave this book a go. The performance is really good, but the plot is not as much. The story somewhat repeats characters and storylines from the vampires mysteries. The beginning of this book looked promising, but did not like the ending - there were no hints throughout the story for such an ending, comes out of nowhere.

An excellent read.
My favourite of the authors novels. I love how a group of very different people can coexist so well.

It was okay, will give second book a read.
Not a bad book, well written, good characters, I just wish it had gone somewhere more exciting. The end fell a little flat for me, but as this is the first in a series maybe the next books will take more advantage of the supernatural elements. And hopefully something puts the MOL in their place once and for all.

Struggled with Narration
I have read many of Charlaine Harris’s books, loving all of them. Was looking forward to loving this one too as an audiobook. Unfortunately the Narrator’s accent meant I struggled to engage in the story line. Pushed through after having a number of restarts. Didn’t love it . Don’t recommend audio unless you really like the accent
