About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Dying isn't any fun...but at least it's a living.

Mickey7 is an Expendable: a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonise the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there's a mission that's too dangerous - even suicidal - the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.

Mickey signed on to escape from both bad debts and boredom on Midgard.

After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal...and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.

When he goes missing and is presumed dead at the hands of deadly indigenous creatures, Mickey8 reports for duty and their troubles really begin.

The minimalist use of sound effects were a great addition to the fantastic story. Straight onto book 2.

Great production.

The concept of this story was really interesting and is what drew me in to give it a go. The reality did not quite measure up to the promise. I did enjoy it and I liked Mickey in all of his incarnations and his close friends. Marshall is a prick, no questions, to the point of being predictable unfortunately.
I did really enjoy the flashback history sections, and think the world building is good to the point that I would like to know more. I also wanted to know more about the indigenous inhabitants of the planet. Maybe there will be more in the sequel.
Great narration from John Pirhalla with cameo's from Katharine Chin.

Didn't quite meet my expectation

A good story, but reasonably predictable. Would’ve enjoyed more detail of the interaction with The Other

A little predictable
