About this listen

World War Three wiped out the humankind. The planet is empty now. Huge cities became dust and ashes. Railroads are being eaten by rust. Abandoned satellites hang lonely in their orbits. Radio is mute on all frequencies. The only survivors of the last war were those who made it into the gates of the Metro, the subway system of Moscow city.

It's there, hundreds of feet below the ground, in the vaults of what was constructed as the world's largest air-raid shelter, where now people try to outlive the end of days. It's there that they created a new world for themselves. The stations of the Metro became city-states, and its citizens, torn apart by religions and ideologies, are fighting for now-scarce commodities: air, water, and space.

This tiny underground world can only remind humans of an immense world they once were the masters of. It's been 20 years since Doomsday, and yet the survivors refuse to give up. The most stubborn of them keep cherishing a dream: when the radiation level from nuclear bombings subsides, they will be able to return to the surface and have the life their parents once had. But the most stubborn of the stubborn continues to search for other survivors in this huge emptiness that once was called Earth. His name is Artyom. He would give anything to lead his own people from the underground onto the surface.

And he will.

Amazing series

Metro series is an amazing book and an amazing audible book series as well. The series from 2033 to 2035 is so worth it. I can understand why a number of games were made out of it!!

Another great ride that just sticks the landing

Similar to Metro 2033, this book is full of great twists and turns throughout that keeps you engaged and your heart on edge.
The ending isn't the typical gang round up and ride off into the sunset, and keeps in tune with the mood of the previous two books.

depressingly realistically brilliant

This third book is the perfect conclusion to the story. I was constantly left wondering what would happen next.
Brilliant!
I also love how the author depicted the social and political manipulation, and how it can be used. This felt like it could actually happen.
I highly recommend this whole series with the finale being the perfect ending.

Brilliant...

Without doubt one of the best audiobooks I've had the pleasure of coming in my ears.

Dark, dank, pathetic and totally believable continuation of existence in th post-apocalyptic Moscow Metro.

Truly awesome narration. One of the best.

Wow. Amazing but GRIM

Amazing story, grim in a uniquely Russian way, even for a post apocalyptia setting.

Sad that it ended.

The Metro series is one of my all time favorites. A great story by Dmitry Glukhovsky and masterful narration by Rupert Degas.

Solid end to the Metro series

If one is expecting the videogames Metro: Last Light & Metro Exodus in audiobook form I'd suggest sticking with the first novel Metro 2033 and its visions of a dystopian future.

Metro 2035 discusses human nature, blind trust in authority figures and Artyom's quest to change the status quo within the Metro.

The metro remains an oppressive place however Metro 2035 has no mutants and no Dark Ones - the real horrors are the humans and their factions, the ongoing fighting and scheming within the metro.

The change in some characters may be jarring to some; I didn't mind the changes and I felt the author was pointing out humans often have hero worship for people who often don't deserve it.

Narration is very good; I've tried to read the books and found the audio versions far more enjoyable as the Russian to English translations of the novels meant passages were often very challenging to follow.

All in all, Metro 2035 is solid end to the Metro novel series.

Metro 2033 - 4.5/5.0
Metro 2034 - 3.0/5.0
Metro 2035 - 4.0/5.0

The best Metro book

I have heard alot of people dislike metro 2035 because of how unlikable and dark the protagonist is, but honestly it remains one of my favorite post apocalyptic storys ever I personally rate it along side the road, I am legend, with slight traces of 1984 thrown in for good measure.
make no mistake this is a hard book to get through, but if your a fan of dark post apocalyptic fiction or the metro series it is a must listen.
