About this listen
In a picturesque town in Derbyshire, Merry has always wanted a family to spend Christmas with, and this year her dream comes true as she says 'I do' to father-of-two Cole. But as she juggles worries about her business, last-minute wedding planning and the two new children in her life, Merry is stretched to breaking point.
Meanwhile, only a few miles away, Emily is desperately waiting for the New Year to begin. Her father Ray's dementia is worsening, and she's struggling to care for him alone while holding down a job. When Ray moves into a residential home, she discovers a photograph in his belongings that has the potential to change everything .
As shocking secrets from Ray's past finally come to light, will this Christmas make or break Emily and Merry?

Heart warming and thought provoking
What a glorious seasonal novel. The family connections that grow and intertwine are lovely. The story line of the character with dementia both made me laugh and shed tears. After reading both of the novels in the “series” I feel like the characters are almost like old friends. I adored the narration of this book.

The narrator
The epilogue made no sense whatsoever. I have a good imagination but Spoiler alert, the letter was written to Emily who had been close to her mother Tina all her life. It was Merry who lost her mother and spent years in foster care. Emily could not have been adopted if you followed the story. What the AF? It made no sense at all. It was an enjoyable if unbelievable story. Who gets married on Christmas Eve and goes on a last minute family honeymoon to Switzerland on Christmas Day with no planning or packing? Yes I know this is chick lit but honestly, if you are going to deal with tricky real life situations maybe have a more real life story. Ray was always a waste of space, Merry and Emily only saw themselves through the eyes of blokes. Too much Merrily ever after for me.
