Publisher's Summary

Joining us from home is television presenter, comedian and actress, Mel Giedroyc, who is publishing her debut novel, The Best Things.

Giedroyc grew up in Leatherhead and attended Trinity College, Cambridge, becoming a member of the Footlights comedy club. Starting her career alongside Sue Perkins, the duo became the household names of Mel and Sue, known for their baking puns as presenters of The Great British Bake Off, following their stint presenting Light Lunch. Alongside many other presenting roles for shows such as Eurovision, and many charitable causes including Sport Relief, Children in Need and Comic Relief, Giedroyc has made a name for herself on the stage, appearing in The Sound of Music, Stephen Sondheim's Company and Much Ado About Nothing.

After publishing two books about pregnancy and motherhood in 2005 and 2007, Giedroyc has made a return to writing, only this time she is publishing her first novel, The Best Things.

We chatted to Mel Giedroyc about her forays in fiction, learning about finance for this book from a hedge fund manager who lives in a castle in Austria, and how writing compares to presenting and acting.
