About this listen
"Meet Me in the Margins is a delightfully charming jewel of a book that fans of romantic comedy won't be able to put down!" --Kristy Woodson Harvey, New York Times bestselling author of A Happier Life
You've Got Mail meets The Proposal--this romance is one for the books.
Savannah Cade's dreams are coming true. The Claire Donovan, editor-in-chief of the most successful romance publishing company in the country, has requested to see the manuscript Savannah's been secretly writing. The only problem: she's an editor for a different company, and their philosophy is only highbrow works are worth printing and romance should be reserved for the lowest level of Dante's inferno.
But when Savannah drops her manuscript during a staff meeting and nearly exposes herself to the whole company--including William Pennington, the new boss and son of the romance-despising CEO herself--she has no choice but to hide the manuscript in a hidden room.
When she returns, she's dismayed to discover that someone has not only been in her hidden nook but has written notes in the margins--quite critical ones. But when Claire's own reaction turns out to be nearly identical to the scribbled remarks, and, worse, Claire announces that Savannah has six weeks to resubmit before she retires, Savannah finds herself forced to seek the help of the shadowy editor after all.
As their notes back and forth start to fill up the pages, however, Savannah finds him becoming pivotal not just to her work but her life. There's no doubt about it: she's falling for her mystery editor. If she only knew who he was.
Meet Me in the Margins is a delightful rom-com that combines the witty banter and tension of You've Got Mail with the clean and heartwarming romance found in Katherine Center's novels. With its fun premise and charming characters, this book is perfect for book clubs and girls' nights. Plus, it includes discussion questions to spark engaging conversations about love, literature, and the power of second chances.

"Ferguson (The Cul-de-Sac War) enchants with this whimsical tale set against the evergreen culture war between literary and commercial fiction . . . An idealistic, competent heroine, a swoon-worthy hero, and delightfully quirky supporting characters bolster this often hilarious send up of the publishing industry, which doubles as a love letter to the power of stories. The is sure to win Ferguson some new fans." (Publishers Weekly)

I'm a sucker for lit themed books
It's cute, the characters have genuine chemistry. The story is fairly predictable, but if you read a lot of rom com they usually are. That's not a bad thing.

Easy listening, but...
I was looking for a light fun read, that I found.
However I quickly reaslised there were no twists and turns, what you think when reading the blurb is what happens.
Plus a little ironic... the book is about a woman who needs to rewrite the book she wrote as the main characters met in a done-to-death predictable hallmark manner.
This book had potential but suggest a rewrite so the main characters don't keep meeting in hallmark situations. And an insight into why this stready, wooden Darcy-type leading man is instantly head over heels for the leading lady for no apparent reason may make it more believable.

loved it
I loved this book, the part I related to the most was at the end when the Savanna, the main female character says the following:
"How on earth am I meant to be able to manage a website, run a bi-monthly newsletter. Talk daily on Instagram, facebook and tiktok, youtube and twitter. And still have time to actually write books. What are these insane expectations, I blame it on those rejection letters."
It speaks volumes to every indie author doing a majority of the work themselves.

Was okay
The story was fine. I felt the narrators voice didn’t match the character and made her seem unnecessarily younger. I’d have liked a duet with someone like Elizabeth Evans. But I’d listen to the narrator or read other books from the author to try them again.
