Publisher's Summary
Masters of Doom is the amazing true story of the Lennon and McCartney of video games: John Carmack and John Romero. Together, they ruled big business. They transformed popular culture. And they provoked a national controversy. More than anything, they lived a unique and rollicking American Dream, escaping the broken homes of their youth to produce the most notoriously successful game franchises in history - Doom and Quake - until the games they made tore them apart. This is a story of friendship and betrayal, commerce and artistry - a powerful and compassionate account of what it's like to be young, driven, and wildly creative.

Fantastic read highly recommended!
As a software developer was great to get a timeline of my childhood gaming experience. Fantastic story, excellently read and interesting all the way through. Recommended for anyone that wants to get the story behind the evolution of PC gaming.

ID Software Bio
Perfect performance. I like Wil Wheaton’s style of narrating. Listened to Doom Guy first. This fills in some blanks and then some. Although 20+ years old, it is still very much worth it if you are into ID stuff. The 2 Johns are selfmade men with human flaws. We (gamers) owe them much.

Great story with excellent narration
Loved all of it! Hope others experience it. Interesting material, well written, and above all as enjoyable as the games the story revolved around.

A great story about 2 very talented men withij the video games industry.
How they shaped it and yet they seemed destined to be driven apart eventually.
