Broody morally grey love interest and strong female lead

I enjoyed this story. It’s dark, twisted and romantic. I guess read trigger warnings online before but not much phases me so I didn’t find it disturbing like others have… there is waaaay worse out there. The story had me hooked and I wanted to know how it ended so I barely put it down. Love Keri Lake because it’s hard to find stand-alone dark romance books nowadays! Only didn’t like the narrators doing the opposite gender voices but that’s how it goes with audiobooks I guess but still loved it!!

Rollercoaster of a story but where are the TW?!

I still don't know how I feel about this story due to how dark and messed up it was. Was I sucked in by the suspense and intrigue? 100% yes!

I found myself fat forwarding through some of these scenes because well it broke me for what both characters went through and because I found it really messed up. I'm glad they got their happy ending but I was curious to know what the future held for them.

Lucian was at his core a good guy but because of his upbringing and secret society well the mentally illness sufferer in me howled at what they did to him.

Misogyny

Also lots of swearing, sex scenes and secret society. Age gap.

I hope by listing the Trigger warnings above this may potentially help guide others who are interested in buying this audiobook.

I think if this book hadn't been so dark and twisted I could've really gotten into it. Not sure if I'm game to try other books by this author.

Needs a trigger warning or some hint at its true content

When I began reading this book, I truly thought that it would be a little kinky, but still a fun story to read. I was very mistaken. It is a lot more intense and has a lot more now disturbing acts in it than any of the other reviews, I’ve read or the synopsis suggests. Particularly Lucien’s flashbacks. Read with discretion. I made it to chapter 21 before I couldn’t handle it anymore.

Enjoyed this one!

Could not put this one down! It was so good. Plenty of plot and not too much filler 😆 If I could just give an extra star for Lucien Blackthorn all broody and living in a castle I would. Nice and twisty at a good pace 👌

I was getting a film noir type feeling based on the performances. Loved the multi level plot lines.. worth it!

Snooze

*sigh*
I had such high hopes for this given Keri’s other works. This was such a slog to get through. I didn’t connect with a single character. It felt like 5 different stories in one and not a single one comes together at the end. The ‘romance’ was dull and the story lacked substance. If I were reading the physical copy I’d likely have DNF’d
