Publisher's Summary

Mason Madrid is the class clown of Ms Evans' 4th grade class. Mason loves to make his classmates laugh even if it means he sometimes gets in trouble. Nothing is funnier to Mason than pulling his sweater up during class and whining that he's lost his head. Or hiding a ketchup packet in his hand and squeezing it at exactly the right time to gross-out the younger kids in the cafeteria who think he's bleeding.

But one day, Ms Evans is replaced by a substitute teacher who is hip to Mason's tricks. And to make matters worse, Mason later finds out that Ms Evans has cancer. An odd alliance is formed when the substitute gives Mason an idea that enables him to employ his humor chops while giving encouragement to Ms Evans. Mason is devilishly charming and deeply loyal. This story helps us (children AND adults) understand that talent, caring and intelligence come in many forms and we can make the world a better place by using our gifts - whatever they may be - in the service of others.
