About this listen

This gold gleamed green in the low light. Kenneth recognized it as sinister from the moment he saw it, shortly before he and fellow soldiers took it from its place of origin. Against his better judgment, he now helps his comrades and the temperate Captain Hiram load the treasure onto their ship so they can offer it to the mercenaries they need to tip the scale in the American Revolution; only then can everyone go home. Though they escape unscathed, a great storm and swift-sailing pirate ship await them at sea.

The ship finds its way to another continent. The treasure is buried in sand and forgotten, and the visiting French build a slaughterhouse over the site. Centuries unfold until, during the days of the space race, Chief Mojisola must protect her villagers while fielding a prime minister’s building lust for world power. The prime minister demands ownership of the slaughterhouse. A fierce battle over the gold ensues, risking everything the village holds dear and leaving little behind.
