Publisher's Summary

Matt and Liz may have retired from the police, but that doesn't mean a quiet life.

An old friend's sister disappears without a trace. There's no sign of foul play, but she'd been acting very peculiarly....

Meanwhile, Liz's cousin, Christie, comes to stay. She takes an immediate - and uncharacteristic - dislike to the local bookshop owner, Gina. Why does everyone put up with her awful behavior?

Hunting will-o'-the-wisps on the marshes can be a very dangerous hobby.

Christie is convinced that Gina is manipulating everyone around her. Is she onto something dangerous or just pushing her new friends away?

No one believes her suspicions until another friend goes missing late at night on the misty Fen marshes.

Can Matt and Liz uncover the truth in time to save lives?

Weak

This was not a great story and a very weak plot. Joy Ellis had done much better than this book.

Different

The story was good but after listening to both the DI Galena and the Jackson series’ this is nothing like them so wasn’t what I was after. Plus this narrator just couldn’t quick get the characters to life as he changed their accents and tones in each book. Hope the last one in this series is more pleasing

Hmm…

Enjoyed the narrator, the story was very long winded and predictable though… saw that ending coming a mile off

Excellent

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. It’s not all grim and dark and all suspenseful it also flows very well. Loved the end stories. Watch out for the den lights

Another great Ellis novel

Really enjoyed this story even if it didn't have the same intrigue as some of the other novels. Found myself thoroughly immersed in the characters.

Different from others in the series...

I have loved all Joy Ellis's books in all her series, and the research that must've gone into this was was amazing; hours and hours of research no doubt! However despite the narrator having a wonderful rich voice, I found it a bit too dramatic at times. I was also a little disappointed in the ending, I would have liked a bit more drama after all the lead up, and without giving anything away there was one aspect of the story that I felt wasn't tied up as neatly as I would have thought it would be...and I think maybe also it leaves an opening for Matt and Liz to come back...let's hope so! 😃👍

Not the norm but still great

This book is not your usual offering from Joy, but still excellently executed.

The end is

The end is a bit confusing. Well, the story ends and either it's an intro into another book, or just a double ending with a flip going back, no idea, but l stopped listening, when the end happened.

The story is good, Interesting enough at one point the narrator gets a bit annoying murdering a country accent but overall a pleasant enough book, with a decent ending. Until that is, whatever it is, starts up.

Will be listening to the next in the series.
