Miss Marple was first introduced to readers in a story Christie wrote for The Royal Magazine in 1927 and made her first appearance in a full-length novel in 1930’s The Murder at the Vicarage. It has been 45 years since Agatha Christie’s last Marple novel, Sleeping Murder, was published posthumously in 1976, and this collection of ingenious new stories by twelve Christie devotees will be a timely reminder why Jane Marple remains the most famous fictional female detective of all time.

Main narrator
Did not really like the main narrator. She was lacking something. Her voice just did not seem to suit Agatha Christie novels

Variable
Never mess with an original. I'd say only three are truly worth of taking Christie forward, 3 are OK and the rest just not working. Focusing on the winners - brilliant stories, clever use of previous characters/situations all enhanced by some brilliant narration. Christie was (in my opinion wrongly) accused of being somewhat anti-Semitic and racist. Quite a few of these try to "right that wrong" and add to pedestrian nature of some of the stories. For the three excellent ones alone, I'd recommend this. The fast forward button works for those that don't hit the mark!

pretty awful
predictable endings, excruciatingly self conscious narrations - some good, some downright terrible. Christie it ain't.

Heightened respect for the real Agatha Christie
I didn't realise how capable a writer Agatha Christie was until I listened to these 12 pathetically childish attempts to emulate her. The storylines are ludicrous in their transparency, the vocabularies immature in the extreme and the delivery, at best, sub-standard.
Perhaps, and this would be the most disturbing thing if true, the stories are the clearest indication of the lack of respect all of the writers and their editors have for Christie.
What possible purpose can be served by putting Christie's deservedly high reputation in the hands of such obviously rank amateurs?
It is simply an unabashed attempt to profit from the demand of Christie aficionados for a product, the like of which we're unlikely to see again.
Leave well enough alone. Audible? You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!
