About this listen

A new Founder marked with otherworldly power. An epic quest to build a sanctum settlement. A fabled class that wields monstrous magic.

The Founders were the first marked, and they used those powers to build kingdoms, subjugate the land, and enrich themselves. They will not suffer another to join their ranks.

Lost in a world with levels, stats, and monsters, Hal fights to survive in an unforgiving land, and to escape execution from its rulers. Ingenuity and courage won’t be enough. With marked powers he doesn’t understand, he’s easy prey for all the goblins, bandits, aberrations, and foul monsters that plague the realm. He’ll need to abandon his humanity by embracing the beast within. To fight monsters, one has to risk becoming a monster...if he can survive long enough to level up.

Freedom and safety cannot be achieved alone. Only by forging bonds with fellow adventurers and monsters alike do Hal and his would-be kingdom have any chance of surviving the hazardous realm.

Beastborne in an isekai litRPG adventure series full of dungeon crawling, spell-slinging action, and deep magic systems.

Give it a chance! it's worth it!

(review from a 30 yr old fantasy nerd.)
Honestly, the narrator starts out weak, but its worth staying, as with so many audiobooks ive listened to, the narrators take up to half a book to get comfortable with their character voices and the material. The narrator really picks up his game several chapters in, after which he just gets better and better)

The books have been amazing so far! (I'm almost finished the second book)
there's not too much stat repetition. the characters have separate and endearing personalities. plus, the book doesn't take itself too seriously all the time. There's a lot of comic relief that makes the story much more enjoyable. (I hope you'll love the silly Cobby characters as much as I do.)

Great book! would recommend!

Good

This is a good book with heart wrenching twists and turns my only problem is that sometimes you can’t tell wether the MC is thinking something or saying it out loud but other than that it’s great with excellent narration.
Overall 15/5

A good listen.

I liked the story overall. It took a bit of time for me to get into the story because I kept trying to figure out why this guy was so clueless! I kept wondering if we're going to find out what happened to his phone. But I got into it and really enjoyed it. I thought some of the quests went against the desires of other characters - the reaper for example - shouldn't you have asked them first? And listening to long level ups got tedious to the extreme. But I want to see where this is going so I will listen to the next one.

A little gauche an a bit preachy, but not too bad.

Managed to get through it without too many cringes 😊 - overall ok, but not up rhere with my faves. Just a little over and under done in places.

Lack of personal motivations and agency.

The Mc is whatever the plot needs him to be. In fact its impossible to seperate the Mc from the plot as they are one in the same. rather than personal victories its more accurate to say everything is a plot victory. The inherent advantage of having a transmigrated Mc is stripped away along with the Mc's supposed intelligence and is used as dialouge fuel.

Everything good that he does is explained as a gut feeling or instinct. The founders mark instantly stratisfys the locals into a flight or fight mode so the Mc is forced to tag along with the plot. I don't think I can find a single thing that the MC has wrong or right as he hasn't made a single impactful decision that wasn't already decided for him.

Even the ultimate thing forces you to be in a party. I mean there are game elements and then there is just code...

Voice Actor

This narator is officially my favourite. Feels like a voice actor is narrating a DnD epic story. I will be eager to dive into books 2 and 3!

EVERYTHING

I cannot put into words how hooked I am on this whole series. yes there's a lot of stats and RPG/Isekai mechanics going on. but the story, lore and world of Aldim is so interesting I can't get enough. think I've listened to this first book alone over 15 times.
