Publisher's Summary

Around the middle of the 20th century, art changed its direction in favor of an approach to popular culture. From this approach came "Pop Art", short for "popular art", whose members and representatives were photographers, painters, musicians, sculptors, filmmakers, and eccentric personalities. They were all men and women visionaries with a particular artistic sense that many would not hesitate to describe as "bizarre". Among them, Andy Warhol was definitely one of the best-known artists of Pop Art. He, in 1967, immortalized the face of the actress Marilyn Monroe in a series of screen prints that will remain indelibly imprinted in popular culture - not only American but worldwide.
