About this listen
The Black Death! England has won the war with France, but the disease which rampages through the land takes both rich and poor, warrior and worker. John Hawkwood and his two companions spend the winter in the north.
It is in the spring that he begins to mould his company into a fighting force, and he serves the Baron Mortimer on the Welsh Border. There his men learn to fight as one, and John Hawkwood begins the change from archer to man at arms.
When the king and the Black Prince commission him to fight for them, first in an action against the Castilian pirates and then on a chevauchée through Gascony, he learns the skill of leadership.

Good continuation of the series, bring on the next
I must admit I do appreciate when Marston York Narrates a book and it is written by Griff Hosker. I just love reading his books.
Book two carries on from book one with John Hawkwood and his band of followers. Sir John Hawkwood probably gives it away in the title but again an easy, enthralling read. Bring on the next one.

Another fantastic instalment
My two most enjoyed periods of time, ancient Rome and mediaeval England.
If you’re a fan of under the Eagles by Simon Scarrow, then you’ll love this series
The narration fits the theme perfectly
The pace never gets too slow that you end up switching off and pieces of information.
There is an effort with an attention to detail that really helps. The storyline develop as his character progression continues.

excellent
i reviewed crecy as hawkewood being full of himself and that hasn't changed...yes he has earned the right but i find it tiresome...although it didn't take away from the story at all...i still thoroughly enjoyed it.

Little better than pulp fiction
Very disappointing. There is little by way character or character development, the narrative is one dimensional, repetitive and predictable.
