Not for me
I found the first story downright depressing, though the way you don't trust anyone close to the main does successfully create the tension of a thriller.
The second story felt like it was a period piece, despite being modern. The main guy has his sexuality invalidated in The Worst Possible Way by the closeted guy he likes, so be wary if high levels of homophobia are going to impact you as a reader.
The third story? If you know any Japanese at all, don't listen to it. I didn't find the pronunciations too bad until the word "shounen" was pronounced "sho-wow-nen" & I had to go back & listen to it again to process what I'd heard. After I stopped laughing, there was "yowie" & "o-bach-chan" & the robotic, deadpan "kaa-chan" that sounds disconnected from the rest of the sentence. All of the english parts are great & the guy is clearly a great narrator, but the wrong choice for this story.
When I realised that I didn't like the main character of the third story, that was the kiss of death for me. I wish the gang banger & the ice princess well. I hope the railroading cop gets over himself. I think the victim's kids worked together and did it for the money. I'll never know, because I requested a refund (thank you for making that an option, Audible).
If you do enjoy these stories, that's great! Unfortunately they were not for me.
