About this listen

Alex Larsen

Remy Duval was my high school crush and secret first kiss, but he’s also so much more. A painter, a tattoo artist, my best friend Bailey’s older brother…and Bailey’s sworn enemy. It was easier to keep my distance the past two years, but now that Bailey and I are attending Franklin University with him, I’m only drawn to Remy more. I should be loyal to my best friend and focus on classes and swim team, but the more I see Remy around campus, the harder it becomes to stay away.

Remy Duval

My brother hates me, but that’s no surprise. I’ll take the fall for ruining our family if it means doing the right thing. But as soon as my brother and his best friend show up on campus, I know I’m in trouble. Alex is all grown up, and I can’t help wanting him, especially when he’s in those tiny swim briefs that emphasize everything.

One kiss leads to more, and before we know it, we’re tumbling into secret, no-strings-attached hookups. But who knew Alex would understand me in ways few others have? And I think, just maybe, I understand him too.

I keep telling myself it’s temporary. Alex doesn’t want to disappoint his best friend, and after what my parents went through, I’m not looking to settle down. Making waves is nothing new, but the further I fall, the more I drag Alex in the deep end with me.

This is one of my favorites in the FU series and Iggy Toma was epic of course, no surprises there.

I wanted to love it, I just didn’t..

Making Waves is book seven in the Franklin U series. A MM college romance series collaboration between other authors. Each author writing their own book within the FU world.

I really wanted to like this book with sports romance and brothers best friend trope it should hav been a fave. But Bailey absolutely ruined it for me. His childish attitude and the lack of accountability to his poor behaviour really grated me.

I see the sense to the rivalry plot of the story. But I just don’t vibe with it, I feel like it overshadowed the couples story. Remy and Alex were cute as hell though

Iggy Toma is always a narrator fave of mine…so he was brilliant as always

These books might be part of a series in the same world but you can definitely read them out of order, I've been holding out for the audiobooks which has meant I've listened to them all out of 'order' and it hasn't hindered my reading experience at all.

Lots of conflict in this hard-won romance!

Alex Larson has always had a crush on Remi Duval, the older bother of his best friend, Bailey. Unfortunately, Bailey has never forgiven Remi for outing their father’s secret affairs and ending their parents’ marriage and Alex has struggled as the meat in the angry sandwich. When Alex and Bailey join the Franklin U swim team, it puts them in close proximity to Remi who has been studying art there for the last two years and there’s constant tension between the two brothers, especially when Alex secretly starts a FWB arrangement with Remi.

This sports / family drama romance is definitely the most serious of the FU series, most others are way more fluffy. Often the “best friend’s brother” trope has a fairly weak excuse for the secret relationship but Bailey’s irrational blaming of Remi felt strong, even though it was irritating at times. Christina Lee often makes her sweet and tender moments hard won and there’s a lot of conflict here: Bailey isn’t the only one damaged by the divorce; Remi finds it very hard to believe that any relationship will last and that puts Alex and Remi’s sizzling FWB chemistry under strain at times, even though they are really good together. 🎧 Audio narrator Iggy Toma was the perfect choice for this tense book, he always heightens the emotions with his vulnerable, sensitive voice!
