About this listen

Discover the fate of the original black Magician, Pug, and his crew of agents who safeguard the world of Trigia, as prophecy becomes truth in the last book of the last ever Midkemian trilogy.

THE FINAL VOLUME IN THE EPIC RIFTWAR CYCLE.

The dragons are calling…

Civil war is tearing apart the Kingdom of the Isles, for the throne lies empty and rivals are converging. Having spirited his beloved Princess Stephané safely out of Roldem, Hal – now Duke of Crydee – must turn his attention to the defence of the ancient realm so that a king can be anointed by the Congress of Lords, rather than by right of might.

But the greatest threat may well lie out of the hands of men. Somewhere in the Grey Towers Mountains something not of this world is emerging. It will require that alliances be made between mortal enemies if disaster is to be averted.

Elves and men must stand together, ancient heroes must rise again, dragons must fly and Pug, Magnus and the other magic-users of Midkemia must be prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice if the whole world is to be saved.

Peter Joyce is a gift

His voice has been the greatest gift to this novel series, and his reading of the final chapter in this long running series is no different.

As for feist...ugh. I love to hate to love this author. His best works have been his collabs, yet he still created a plethora of engaging characters who had a depth that allowed you to care for them, miss them when they were gone, and cheer for them when they needed it.

magician's end told you everything in the title, and you knew the rest from the end of chapter one. most of the time you're just wanting it to hurry up and finish...then it does, and you're no longer sure what you want.

would still recommend this series to anyone in need of a movie length tale.

Why does Nakor now sound like Kaspar?

Great book and back to narrated by Peter Joyce which is great.

Seems Peter forgot voices with the break though, as Nakor now has the voice of Kaspar of Olasko.

Magnificent

What an ending to a truly enjoyable magnificent series of books regarding everything Midkemia. I have spent many many hour upon hour totally wrapped up in Pugs world and all the wonderful characters surrounding him. All I can say is it’s been a very satisfying experience and I don’t quite know where to start to replace them. Thanks Raymond for the great stories you have given us and Peter for narrating them so faithfully. I’m going to miss you all …. Until I start over again.

A brilliant conclusion to the Riftwar Cycle

I’m not sure if it’s nostalgia or what but I swear I was so emotional finishing this book it was ridiculous. So much of this book had call backs and echo’s of Magician, the full circle nature of the story was just perfect.

great story but voice changes jarring

After listening to the whole series it was frustrating when the voice actor had forgotten how he voiced characters previously. Specifically Nakor.
